Welcome to our website!
Thank you to many kind
people for making DA Moodie a far better place. Thank you to Doug Jordan, the manager at Bell's Corners
Canadian Tire for his donation of a composter to the EarthCare Program. Thank you to Erin and David Pelletier,
parents of Savannah, for their donations of lots of winter clothing for
students in need. The owners of
Bushtakah and parents of Robert, Bob Laughton and Susan Molson, also donated 6
backpacks for students in need.
Thank you all for your generosity.
DA cares about people
outside of our community as well.
Last month we collected $918.43 for the people of Haiti. This money was donated to the Red Cross
as part of the Ottawa-Carleton District's group donation. Thank you to Heather Swafford and her
dynamic World Care students for the innovative ways they used to
fundraise! We also collected 150
pair of shoes for Haiti in a one day blitz through the Soft Moc donation
program. Thank you DA for
demonstrating your empathy!
Our Third Annual
School-wide Canal Skate was a huge success! The weather and ice conditions were excellent and the
students had a great time. Many
thanks to Kelly Ross, Kirk Tysick and Paula Southern for organizing the
trip. Thanks to the many parent
supervisors who helped this trip be such a success. Thank you especially to parent volunteers Elaine Jasvins and
Cathy Canton for their work on the skate-a-thon organization and in collecting
prizes for students. We raised
over $1,000 for School Council to enrich programs at the school. Our top student fundraisers were
Katelyn C-J, Alexandre P, and Cassie M.
Ten more random prizes for students who raised money will be drawn later
this week.
This month we wished
Kristel Gauthier best of luck as she began her maternity leave. Kristel and her family are looking
forward to the birth of their second child. Catherine Rochon is the Educational Assistant that we have
hired to replace Kristel in our grade 6 and 7 classrooms. Welcome to Catherine!
Science Fair is just around
the corner from February 17 (grade 8), February 18 (grade 7), February19 (grade6). Set up will happen during the first two
periods and viewings will take place during periods 3 and 4 from
10:15-11:05. If you have time,
drop in to support your child and see all of the wonderful work that our
students will have on display. I
thank Kirk Tysick and Mike D'Eon for their organizational efforts.
As always, please
contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am always happy to assist you and your child.
Sincerely,
Heather Graham
Principal
